I hope to use this site as a way to capture and publish ideas as they occur. Right now, there are no plans to limit the topics or target any specific area. I'm hoping themes will emerge...maybe they will.
My interests range from music (I actually majored in music composition in college) to business (I am a consultant running my own small firm--I am most interested in building capability in individuals and organizations) to philosophy. Of course, cooking, biking, and home projects take their share of time as well.
What trends in the world at large are of concern to me? RIght now, things seem pretty crazy. The world of work is buried in technology, which seems to reduce everything to a deluge of micro-transactions. Politicians and ne'er do wells get away with all kinds of crime and offensive behavior by just denying everything and not caring what anyone says. People sit around Starbucks with their sock feet up on the couch talking loudly on their cellphones like they are in their living room at home. And the economy is collapsing, in part because we've gotten things so efficient that we don't have enough jobs, in part because corporations have been allowed to justify all decisions using only short-term financial results, in part because we all want to make more money and buy more stuff, and mostly because of too much available credit. Anything is fair game. The trick will be to find anything positive--but there has to be a pony in here somewhere!
